About the Organization
Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is located in Timmins, Ontario. The Bell Creek Complex located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods. Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.
The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.

About the Opportunity
We are looking to hire a Principal Engineer, Projects to join our Timmins Operations in Timmins, ON., on a full-time basis. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.
Please note that this is not a camp-based position.
In this role, you will be responsible in advancing projects within the company’s pipeline to the execution stage. The Principal Engineer, Projects is also responsible for reporting on the progress of these projects. Regular update presentations to the senior management group as well as corporate personnel are required, therefore excellent communication methods are a necessary skillset.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Principal Engineer, Projects will have the following responsibilities:
- Design and optimize mine plans
- Produce a long-term plan with the company’s highest priority assets
- Ensure these projects are ready for execution in order to meet Life-of-Mine requirements
- Coordinate with multiple subject matter expert consultants
- Perform economics analyses and seek to maximize value
- Provide regular projects tracking updates
- Demonstrate ability to advance multiple projects by setting milestones and achieving them in a timely manner
- Be aware of permitting requirements and liaise with the Environmental department to meet permitting timelines

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Degree in Mining Engineering
- 10+ years of related mining engineering and project management experience
- Projects tracking and ability to demonstrate progress
- Knowledge of mine design software such as Deswik, Datamine
- Experience with projects software such as Deswik, Primavera, Microsoft Projects
- Previous experience in long-term mine planning and multiple asset integration
- Experience with project value optimization, including defining NPV, IRR
- Previous NI 43-101, Preliminary Economic Assessment, Pre-feasibility Study (PFS) and Feasibility Study (FS) document-type reporting
- Understanding of project capital requirements, detailing and costs
- Knowledge of mining equipment, material handling technology and innovation
- Previous roles liaising with operations, engineering and geology departments of producing mines
- Advanced understanding of mining infrastructure, both on surface and underground
- Advanced understanding of underground mining methods
- Familiarity of open pit mine design is an asset
- Knowledge of mineral processing methods and associated infrastructure
- The ability to communicate oral and written with all levels of the organization
- Professional Engineer designation is desirable
- Project Management Professional designation is an asset
